Crispy, zingy and sweet! Just perfect with a cup of tea.

Level: Easy
Serves: 16
Prep: 15 minutes + 30 minutes chilling
Cook: 13 minutes
Ingredients:
Dough:
175g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
75g sugar
¼ tsp salt
75g butter (room temp.)
1 egg
1tbsp orange zest
1/2tsp orange extract
Orange food colouring (optional)
Topping:
Dark chocolate chips
Preparation:
Line a baking sheet with baking paper and preheat the oven on 175C.
Mix together all the dry ingredients. Add the butter and the egg to the dry ingredients and work it into a dough. (At this point you can add the food colouring if you would like a bit more orange biscuits, I didn’t mind the pale biscuit colour so I didn’t use any. ( The dough will feel dry at this stage but don’t add any more liquid ingredients! Then on a floury surface knead the dough until becomes smooth. Work it with your hands! Then cover it and put it into the fridge for 30 minutes. When the dough is chilled, on a floured surface, roll out the dough (about 0.5cm thick) and cut them out with a biscuit cutter. Put chocolate chips on top and bake them for 13 minutes. Serve it with a nice cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or milk. Enjoy!
