Everything is better with bacon! These savoury snacks are just perfect on their own, with stew or with soup.

Level: Easy

Serves: 20

Prep: 2 hours

Cook: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

375g flour + extra for dusting

100g cold lard

15g salt

1 tbsp dry yeast

150ml milk

1 tbs sugar

400g bacon (cut in small chunks)

Preparation:

In a frying pan, fry the bacon until really dark and crispy. Put them on some paper towel to drip off the excess fat and let it cool.

Cube the cold lard. Measure the flour into a mixing bowl and add the cubed cold lard. Work in the lard until resembles crumbs. Add the crispy bacon, salt, yeast, milk and sugar and mix it until a dough forms. On a floured surface knead the dough until stretchy and smooth. Cover the bowl and set it aside to rest for an hour.

Flour the surface and roll out the dough to 1-2cm thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to cut circles. Give them an egg wash and bake them in the 175 degree Celsius oven for about 15 minutes.
