Hot apple filling with a crunchy buttery topping served with contrasting cool ice cream! Just heaven!

Level: Easy
Makes: 8
Prep: 20 minutes
Cook: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
Crumble topping:
85g plain flour
100g brown sugar
50g granulated sugar
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ginger
115g butter
75g sliced almonds
Apple filling:
900g apples
¼ tsp salt
50g sugar
30g butter
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp corn-starch
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 175 °C (fan).
For the crumble topping, mix together all the dry ingredients, cube the cold butter, add to the flour mixture and with a pastry cutter work the butter into the dry ingredients until the consistency becomes crumby. Mix in the sliced almonds and put the mixture back into the fridge.
Core the apples and cut them into cubes. Make smaller and bigger cubes for more texture. Put them into a large pan, add all the other ‘apple filling’ ingredients and statue it until the butter, corn-starch and sugar is melted.
Pour the apple filling into an ovenproof pish or a large pie dish. Sprinkle the crumble topping on top and bake for about 30 minutes.
Serve with cold cream or ice cream! Enjoy!
